Eligibility & Aims of SBNCG Funding
Introduced in October 2024 the School Based Nurseries Capital Grant allowed eligible state funded primary phase schools to enhance their early years provision – be it extending existing provision on site or starting a new nursery provision.
The aim of the grant is to utilise existing surplus school space, while providing nursery places to meet the Government’s commitment to deliver school based nurseries across England.
A Long-term Government Commitment
Recently announced results of the initial 2024 funding allocation provided funding up to £150,000 towards capital costs, to 300 successful schools. While there is no confirmation, to date, of further funding applications it is expected that there will be further phases of school-based nursery funding. While the first phase, has already been implemented, the government has expressed a long-term commitment to expanding these nurseries.
